I’d always wanted to write fiction. I just didn’t know it. Why fiction? That’s what I liked to read. My first few attempts at writing short stories were pretty bad. It didn't take long for me to realize I had no idea how to craft a story. Characters? Plot? Building suspense? Didn’t they just happen? I began my writing journey in January of 2007. I purchased a few books on writing. I took a couple of online courses (one helpful, one not so much) and began crafting stories. My efforts lead to my first published story, "Yesterday's Promise," which appeared in the May 2007 issue of Long Story Short.

I was never verbose in my writing or my speech. I said what was needed to get my point across and shut up. I was thrilled to learn about flash fiction. Writing complete stories in 1000 words or less was perfect for me. Notice I didn’t say it was easy. It’s not, but I have enjoyed the struggle. Today, I have a number of published stories and continue to submit more on a regular basis. I plan to post those and some that weren't published elsewhere on this site. If you enjoy them, let me know. If you don't like them, let me know. All of your comments will help me grow as a writer.
