I told myself when I retired I'd get serious about writing fiction. In 2005, my wife decided to take an early retirement package. I quit my job, and we moved to North Carolina. After taking a few months for myself, I signed up for two classes and began reading books about writing fiction. Early in this process, I stumbled onto flash fiction and found it fit my style of writing. While this genre has many definitions, the one I see most often describes flash fiction as complete stories of 1000 words or less. Some publications limit the word count to 500, 100, or even 55. If you want to submit to any of the magazines listed on this site, be sure to read the author guidelines first. On my site you'll find links to my stories, websites I find helpful and selected online magazines. Each month I'll spotlight a magazine and website that I recommend. I hope you find this information useful to your writing endeavors. Feel free to contact me if you have a suggestion for a magazine or website. I'll include your name and URL with any that I choose to include here. | Hope
This e-zine has two goals: "To serve flash fiction readers and writers with a professional, sustainable market;" and "to promote the general population's reading of great short stories in general and of great flash fiction in particular." Check the author guidelines here.
